The location of Šibenik allows every resident or visitor to thoroughly explore Dalmatia without investing much effort in traveling. Simply put, from this city you can reach a handful of great destinations in a very reasonable time.
A day trip to Trogir, however, is truly something special, as this incredibly charming town is full of cultural and historical sights that will make your day pass in the blink of an eye. Suffice it to say that the entire Trogir core is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Of course, there is also Čiovo, an island that is inextricably linked with Trogir and which abounds in fantastic beaches, as, after all, does the entire surrounding area. You will certainly enjoy this place, and Taxi Šibenik will bring you there quickly and safely, allowing you to enjoy the beautiful scenery of this part of the Dalmatian coast along the way.
First, explore the center….
The end of Trogir will always be your destination if you book our airport transfer from Šibenik to Split Airportbecause the city center is only about five kilometers away as the crow flies. But it would be a real shame if your acquaintance with this place remained only a superficial view from afar before you board the plane.
Exploring Trogir is best started in its center, which is one of the best preserved old towns in this part of Europe and is full of beautiful Baroque, Gothic and Renaissance buildings. It should also be said that Trogir has been continuously inhabited for more than 2300 years.
Trogir Cathedral dedicated to St. Lawrence is the first place you must visit. This beautiful building took three centuries to build and features a masterpiece known as Radovan's Portal, which adorns the main entrance to the cathedral.
Immediately opposite the cathedral is the Ćipiko Family Palace, which was created by merging several buildings from different periods into one, and is home to many valuable works of art. There is also the City Museum, as well as the Rector's Palace, and the great thing is that all these sights are only a few dozen meters away and form a harmonious whole, ideal for visiting during a day trip.
Of course, there are also the beautiful narrow stone streets, so characteristic of coastal towns, which means that if you need a break from all this sightseeing, just sit down for a coffee or lunch and enjoy the wonderful atmosphere of this beautiful city.
...and then move on.
The above-mentioned sights are not the only ones worth visiting in the city center. The City Gate, Benedictine Monastery, and Museum of Sacred Art are also worth your time.
But once you're done with them, head down to the Trogir waterfront and enjoy a nice walk (this is also a good place for lunch) and head west. In front of you will be the magnificent Kamerlengo fortress from the 15th century, which served as a shelter for the Venetian army. Today, it is a truly magical backdrop for various cultural events, such as concerts or theater performances.
If you return to the eastern part of the waterfront, you will notice the small bridge that connects the city to the island of Čiovo - it is only a few meters long (a new bridge was recently built just outside the city) and is a connection to some of the most beautiful beaches in the wider Split area (Okrug Gornji is one of the more popular places on the island).
Čiovo is full of apartments and holiday homes, and if you have a car or Taxi Šibenik with you, you will be able to explore it quite well, but even on foot you can reach the nearest beach relatively easily. If Čiovo for some reason does not suit you, the beach of the Medena Hotel is also excellent, and there is also the small town of Marina, located just over ten kilometers west of Trogir.
It should also be said that Trogir is well connected to Split by expressway, so you can easily hop over to the Dalmatian metropolis before returning to Šibenik. However, we recommend that you don't do this at the expense of getting to know Trogir, because this small town has so much to offer. Organizing a special trip to Splitis a much better option if you have enough time.
